6 Things to Help You Nail it with your Home Page

Homepage Design carries a great deal of responsibility, as this is the face of your brand in the online world. The homepage should include a “teaser”, a “sample” of your best content and we strongly emphasize that this is not the place to publish your entire website content... :-) as some of you will probably be tempted to do.

There is always the temptation to overload our homepage with details when on the other hand, there is that risk of making it too minimalistic and not informative enough for new customers, so try finding the balance.

  1. Try to think about a reason for each section or piece of content you add to your home page. Why Showing a specific collection and not other one? why should you put this specific product here? every piece of content should serve a cause; it can be your most explored collection, best seller of all times, loved products that are restocked now, new arrivals, etc.

2. The homepage should contain teasers for our services or collections or some selected products from the collection, and highlight what's new. If our website has attractive areas such as discounts, outlets, specials, sales days and more - we will present them first to draw customer's attention, and maybe use these as a window for new customers and to directly approach our existing customers.

Here's a great example of how to combine a few collections together, with a teaser for each.

3. Other important sections of the home page are the “converting sections” such as Testimonials, publicity that we take pride in - mentions in various magazines, programs, Instagram or Facebook channels, sellers, etc. - anything that can make our customers say "Hmm, interesting... I want to shop here! Must have the same product!"

4. Refreshing the website homepage ALL THE TIME is tremendously important! Every holiday, sales day, discount, the advertising we do off-site - must interface with the website eventually; the website must mention what’s happening on social media and in our physical store, if there is any.

Here's a great example of a store that we designed and developed, fully dressed for Christmas:

5. Use Banners that combine more than one product, show multiple products at once with an appealing lifestyle image.

We all like to see products with context, that is what help us relate to products, and feel like we almost own them. This is the most important conversion element in your store.

6. Tell Your customers about who you are at a glance, use short sentences, icons, or visuals to make your point clear quickly.

It is important to update new products, refresh visibility, collections and more to keep the brand relevant at all times.

Good luck!
