5 Trends & Features to Have in Your Next Shopify Theme

If you’re about to redesign, refresh and change your Shopify theme soon - this one is for you!

5 important features & trends that you must look for in your next template:

  1. Mega Menu - Should be a little bit like an extension of your collection pages, and what you have to offer to your customers, visually.
You’d want your mega menu to be wide, have clear visuals of banners/images introducing your collections/products, so your store visitors can tell what to expect to, and get a connection with your products, from this very first point of interaction.

  2. Collection Page Spice - Add that little spice with a collection banner or a trending promotion banner, that can be linked to a specific collection or product.
Look for more features that are allowed by your theme to be incorporated in the collection page. For example, adding social media posts, stories and reviews to attract more interest, and to make your products more relatable.

3. Social Proof - Connecting your online store with your social media channels is KEY.
Think of your brand as a person. Make sure to have their characters, tone of voice, best friends (Loyalty programs, VIP clubs, exclusive circle), interests and make sure to connect with your people!
Having an online presence will be the one piece that your customers can rely on, get to know your brand, connect with it, and decide whether they would like to make that purchase or not.
Hence, You’d like to look for features such as: stories integration, video reviews, Instagram shop page, Instagram section in a product page, and more.

4. Help your store visitors understand /connect with your products in a few levels -

  • Tabs - to help you organize your products description, and to be able to include more information easily and cleanly, to help your store visitors become buyers.

  • Advantages / Benefits section - To be able to show these with icons or thumbnails, to help visitors get to the bottom line, short and catchy.

  • Social - Should be a section that shows your product used / wear / styled by other people, real people, people who look more like your audience, to help them connect with your products and develop emotion.

5. Complimentary Products Section - for product pages. Can be used as an upsell section with a few angles:

  • Frequently bought together products

  • Complete the look

  • Add X to get Y (While you have a store promotion)

To wrap up - before replacing your current theme with a new one, make sure to look for important features that you need to incorporate in the main pages of your store, this season.
